This is a Provincial Home Owners Grant that helps reduce the tax amount on residential properties that are owner occupied!
Of course, you need to qualify and the most important step-claim it online! This link is for the City of Nanaimo Home Homes Grant!
You will need to have your folio number and access code which can be found on your Property Tax Notice. If you have not received it yet, you can expect to receive it annually by the end of May.
Normally Property Taxes are due by July 2nd each year so you need to claim your Home Owners Grant first!

If your Property taxes are included in your mortgage, it's very important to remember to claim your grant before the deadline!
If you have forgotten, don't worry you can claim it retroactively before December 31st each year!
